INTRODUCTION AND OVERVIEW

INTRODUCTION

You are excited about starting an online venture and doing it yourself. You know 2 things for sure:

  • You need a website;
  • WordPress offers the best CMS.

But the thought of using WordPress scares you right? With absolutely zero experience in running a WordPress website, this could be sort of overwhelming. And most people resort to outsourcing the whole website stuff to a WordPress developer. This move could literally explode your startup budget. You don’t want this to happen, neither do I.

1.1. NOTE 1: EXPLANATION OF SCORING TABLE

1.1. NOTE1 EXPLANATION OF SCORING TABLE

This is my personal attempt and initiative to establish a common ground for a better comparison across several WordPress hosting platforms, and should not under any circumstance, be considered as a standard unit of measurement.

The table above has identified 6 different components, which I consider imperative for any WordPress building training resources to possess. The points are evenly distributed across the first five components, with each component carrying a single point.

The last component, however, which concerns the combined number of training materials, was approached differently. Check out the table below for more details:

1.2. NOTE 2: COMMENTS TO WEB HOSTING WITH TRAINING PLATFORMS

1.2. NOTE 2: COMMENTS TO WEB HOSTING WITH TRAINING PLATFORMS

CMT1 WAHOSTING

The training here is something else, with live classes organized every week on WordPress, SEO, YouTube, internet marketing, etc, etc. This platform has updated courses on everything related to building your WordPress website and monetizing it.

I mentioned only 500+ combined articles and videos, but this is actually an understatement. Their knowledge base is the widest and the most independent I’ve ever seen online, compared to the 32 other hosting platforms under my case study.

The others focus mainly on hosting and technical support, but WAHOSTING, goes far beyond just hosting and support. They are truly a self-sufficient WordPress hosting platform, in every sense of the word, that provides a Managed support experience for both technical hosting issues, and training resources as well.

And the good news is, once you pay for your WordPress hosting package, you access every other resource FREE OF CHARGE.

OPINION

You can confidently build a WordPress website here without any prior knowledge of WordPress. This platform is highly recommended for everyone, especially for beginners.

CMT2 BLUEHOST

With Bluehost, if you need a hand in setting up your website and making it SEO friendly for search engines, then you would have to search YouTube videos online, and other related websites offering free videos in the related subject areas.

Bluehost offers only the tools necessary to get online, and the technical support for hosting related issues free of charge. They don’t offer training and classes, besides their WordPress Live which is sold on MojoMarketplace.

They, however, are willing to provide links to solutions that can help with the designing of your website. ”WordPress Live” is sold on MojoMarketplace and there are 2 plans offered on WordPress live:

– $49.99/mo = chat support + expedited ticketing

– $149.99/mo = chat support + live phone support + expedited ticketing

CMT3 HOSTGATOR

HostGator has about 19 tutorials ranging from getting started to importing products, stocks, photography, etc… The step-by-step instructions are presented with screenshots. No videos or slides are available here.

Setting up your WordPress website could be a challenge at HostGator if you are pretty new at this.

CMT4 INMOTIONHOSTING

Inmotion hosting offers no training on internet marketing, but they have one or two tutorials on email marketing.

Considering the fact that this is just one aspect of internet marketing, I would rather conclude that they don’t provide robust support to help you monetize the website you are about to create.

Even though live classes are not available here, it was confirmed through live chat that the training is updated on a weekly basis, meaning their training is up to date. They apparently have a robust knowledge base on WordPress, and as such,  highly recommended for newbies and experts alike.

Make sure to confirm, however, that these resources are actually available before you engage.

CMT5 GODADDY

Godaddy supports their hosting platform, but they provide limited training resources to help you build your WordPress website.

They can, however, provide links to external resources, where you can find the relevant information to help you set up your WordPress website. They specifically provide links to codex.wordpress.org for any further assistance with creating and building your website.

Hosting here would mean you are already very technical at this.

CMT 6A WP ENGINE

No training is available here to assist you with the creation of your website. WP Engine can help you to host and manage the platform! You would need to search many resources outside of WP Engine to help you with the development of your site!

WP Engine is a haven for WordPress developers and other experts in the domain, but would definitely be a nightmare for newbies online

CMT 6B WORDPRESS.COM

No live chat support is available here. Every information you are about to read below was obtained from reading articles in the WordPress forum and official website. I apologize in advance for any possible omissions, as they are not intentional.

==> Live Courses

You can attend live courses with their Happiness Engineer team. Make sure to get more details on the frequency. This is a big PLUS for WordPress.com as the majority of the other platforms do not offer live classes.

==> Training To Build Your Website

This platform provides some training materials to help you get started with your website, besides the hosting environment they offer. This is another big PLUS. An estimated overall number of 100+ tutorials including videos are available here.

You can use the following links to the respective resources they offer.

👉 WORDPRESS TUTORIALS

👉 WORDPRESS VIDEOS

👉 GROW YOUR COMMUNITY

I must admit, pretty impressive.

CMT7 SITEBUILDER

They have a youtube channel that provides training resources to help you set up your website. This is awesome.

They also provide a knowledge base for additional tutorials.

This templates base hosting platform is somehow user-friendly for non-experts as compared to the majority of others.

CMT8 DOMAIN.COM

This platform has quite a handful of videos and articles to help you get started with your WordPress websites. An estimated number of 60+ materials combined together. This is not bad at all.

You can visit these tutorials at:

👉 WORDPRESS VIDEO TUTORIALS

👉 NAVIGATION WORDPRESS DASHBOARD

👉 WORDPRESS ARTICLES

It gets even more interesting. Unlike the majority of the other hosting platforms, DOMAIN.COM actually includes some information about internet marketing in-house. The number of articles can be estimated at 70+.

Or you simple go to their help center and type any help topic of interest to you. An estimated combined total number of training resources at 130+

CMT9: SITEY

An estimated number of 25+ training articles and videos are available here to help you create and set up your website. However, no resources are available here on internet marketing.

CMT10: HOSTPAPA

This platform provides some tutorials and videos, but to a very strict minimum; about 6 for articles and videos.

I can conveniently say that there is no support here to help you set up and build your WordPress website. They, however, can recommend links to external resources, which are mostly to WordPress.com site.

Absolutely nothing for internet marketing.

CMT11 GREENGEEKS

No information available here to help you set up and build and WordPress website. You would definitely need a WordPress developer, or go online and look for available resources.

CMT12 FATCOW

No resources available in-house to help you build your WordPress website.

CMT13 NETWORK SOLUTIONS

This service does not offer live chat services on their homepage. I wasn’t able to confirm any information. However, I used their available knowledge base, knowledge.web.com, to provide the details included in the table above. Any potential omissions and misstatements here are not intentional, and I apologize in advance.

I found about 20 articles on WordPress. I didn’t find any relevant information with regards to internet marketing.

CMT14 SITEGROUND

Some training resources are available here to help you create your WordPress website. A total estimate number of 40+

CMT15 LIQUIDWEB

No materials available on creating your website here. They only provide technical hosting support for your WordPress technical issues.

CMT16 INTERSERVER

No training resources available here, but they are glad to provide links to external resources, such as wpbeginner resources.

CMT17 NAMECHEAP

No training available here to help you build your WordPress website.

CMT18 EUKHOST

No training available here.

CMT19 ARVIXE

No training. They are however willing to provide links to external resources such as wpbeginner resources.

CMT20 HOSTWINDS

This platform has got a knowledge base comprising at least 100 articles on WordPress. Pretty impressive.

I also searched for internet marketing resources, and I found only 1 article on email marketing. This aspect of training is very limited.

No videos are available. You would have to get used to reading a lot of texts.

CMT21 TMDHOSTING

Some tutorials and videos are available here. About 50+. You would have to search their knowledge base.

CMT22 A2 HOSTING

No training available here for anything inside of WordPress. Only hosting and server help is provided meaning if you encounter a problem with your WordPress plugins, for instance, don’t count on A2 Hosting for help.

You would have to rely on external resources for help.

CMT23 JUSTHOST

No training provided here, but apparently, the support team is willing to explain some basic WordPress concepts to you provided you ask.

Well, the question is, for how long? You cannot solely rely on this source of help, especially if you know absolutely nothing about WordPress. I appreciate their goodwill to help you with your WordPress website through their support system, but making resources available through tutorials and videos is really a better option, as it gives the inexperienced webmaster the flexibility to learn at his own pace.

CMT24 A SMALL ORANGE

This platform has some WordPress tutorials in-house, but they date as far back as 2015. Way too archaic.

The most logical option would be to rely on resources available on the internet. I will not recommend that you use these resources in-house.

CMT 25 MOCHAHOST

Some training resources are available here, but very limited. Some resources related to SEO are also included.

It is noteworthy here that MOCHAHOST has a partnership with Mailchimp which allows you to do email marketing.

CMT26 DREAMHOST

Some training available, as well as some resources on SEO. But they recommend that you resort to external sources, as their resouces could get complicated without videos.

CMT27 WEBHOSTING HUB

Some support articles and video tutorials are available here to assist with WordPress.

They also provide links to external sources, Inmotion hosting WordPress tutorials in this case.

You could also find some resources on search engine optimization but nothing about internet marketing.

CMT28 HOSTFAV

Their live chat doesn’t seem to work, so I obtained information from their homepage. Wherever I had doubts, I left a question mark. I do apologize in advance for any unintended errors and misstatements.

I searched for their knowledge and found no information with regards to WordPress and internet marketing.

CMT29 FASTHOSTS

This platform provides purely unmanaged WordPress hosting services. No support whatsoever on setting up your WordPress website.

CMT30 WEBHOST.UK.NET

No training articles available here, but 12 videos are provided to help you with WordPress. They are also willing to help out with anything related to the building of your WordPress website, at least this is what was confirmed by their live chat support agents.

#2. ADVANTAGES OF HOSTING AND BUILDING IN ONE PLACE

The Advantages Are Many...

The advantages are many:

  • You don’t have to pay extra for training or for the services of a WordPress developer. It’s costly paying for hosting and developer services, especially if your startup budget is limited.
  • And what if the training you acquired separately, does not match or meet the requirements of the platform where you are hosting, you may encounter more difficulties and problems setting up your website.
  • Spend more time building your website, and less time looking for resources online, because everything you need is found in one place
  • Your website goes live without any form of delay whatsoever.
  • The complexities related to hosting with one company, and building with another, are completely eliminated.
  • The process of setting up your website and publishing becomes easier.

Now that we have taken a look at some of the advantages of having training in-house, let’s now examine the essential features an in-house training must have.

#3. RECOMMENDED TRAINING FEATURES

The list which follows is not exhaustive, but a recommended MUST HAVE features when it comes to in-house training.

RECOMMENDED TRAINING FEATURES

==> A. Training Classrooms

A rich diversity of subjects must be covered in the various classrooms, touching the most relevant problems and challenges we all encounter while building our websites. Topics should include, but are not limited to:

  • marketing
  • online traffic
  • lead generation
  • the use of social media for business purposes
  • E-commerce
  • affiliate marketing
  • SEO techniques
  • etc

==> B. Training Modules

Thousands of training modules should be available, covering topics ranging from the setting up of a WordPress website to any other topic such as learning how to interact in various online forums.  It could be anything really.

The number of training modules available should be vast to the extent that, any keyword researched in the hosting platform, should definitely match an available training module.

==> C. Online Entrepreneur Courses

Buying a web hosting package at a web hosting service provider is not enough if you are about to build your website and start your online business for the very first time, and you know absolutely nothing about doing business online.

You web hosting service provider should be able to assist you at this level of training as well, to get you well established and prepared for your online business endeavors.

Most web hosting companies really provide the minimum basic when it comes to setting up your website. You can see proof on my table above, related to the number of training materials available.

However, there is one that went further and beyond, to ensure that you are set up when it comes to building up your WordPress website, and even went an extra mile to ensuring that you become a successful online entrepreneur, so that you can compete only with online entrepreneur Geeks.

CHECK OUT THE ONLY PLATFORM ONLINE, THAT SERVES BOTH AS A MANAGED WORDPRESS HOSTING PLATFORM AND AN ONLINE ENTREPRENEUR UNIVERSITY AT THE SAME TIME. CLICK HERE.

When you pay for your managed WordPress hosting package, First Class training on both managed WordPress website creation and website monetization become readily available FREE OF CHARGE. No need to pay extra for training, or resort to a third party for training, or spending time looking for the appropriate training material online.

Everything you will ever need to successfully launch your website and make it readily available on the internet is found in one single package, and one single STABLE price (meaning you renew at the same price every year, unlike other hosts where you renew at a more expensive price as from your second year and onwards).

==> D. Live Video Classes

Web hosting training should also include live interactive classes. It makes the understanding of web hosting jargons much easy to deal with and allows for members who are also building their websites to interact with other members as well.

==> E. Live Video Classes Replays

Guess what, not everyone is able to attend live classes at the scheduled time. That said, replays should be made available to those who could not make it. Replays are also very much needed by those who attended the live classes, for reference.

==> F. Members should be able to participate from anywhere in the world.

The training environment provided by the web hosting company should be one that allows members to be able to participate from any corner of the world. Yes, creating a website could be a challenging one, and you don’t want to get stuck and have no chances of finding a solution right away. This could be very frustrating.

Web hosting companies should make training very dynamic and on-the-go so that anyone, from any corner of the world, can get help at any time.

==> G. Training should be consistent

You don’t want to host where training is not updated consistently. Provisions should be made for consistently reaching out to website owners, and informing them about the latest trends in the respective sectors, latest Google Webmaster Tools updates, latest SEO techniques, and so on and so forth.

A dedicated team should be put in place, whose primary task is to create more and more relevant training materials and make them available on a consistent basis.

==> H. Members should be able to network with other members

Training should provide an excellent opportunity for members to network with each other and share skills. There is no richer source of information than networking with millions of members.

Imagine a platform made up of more than 1M members, having each only 1 year of online experience, that would mean networking with each and every member will give you access to 1M years of experience. OMG. You have 1 million years of different resources just by networking.

When you follow a particular training, and you wish to see it’s applicability in different ways, all you have to do is reach out to your network, and get going.

Networking with other members is a very important aspect of training.

==> I. Video Walkthroughs

Have you ever had an overwhelming feeling of dread when faced with a ton of notes to read, with no alternative way of studying than painfully reading one sentence at a time to fully understand the subject matter?

I guess you are familiar with that feeling. It even becomes more frightening when you are getting to discover a new subject area for the first time. And this method of studying will definitely discourage those who are not determined enough to learn something new.

This is where the importance of video walkthroughs can really be appreciated. Each lesson should be accompanied by a video walkthrough, showing how to implement the lesson step by step, and should be sufficient enough to completely replace the lesson notes.

This is particularly a good thing for those who don’t like to read like me. Lol. Unfortunately, very few web hosting services offer this type of training, which is really of utmost importance, to keep clients really motivated with setting up their websites.

#4. CONCLUSION

TO CONCLUDE...

I Recommend all the WordPress platforms providing 500+ training resources for both beginners and experts in WordPress, as they are more likely to offer updated WordPress building and internet marketing tutorials than those offering just about 100.

I Also Recommended those platforms having a fewer number of training resources for beginners and experts, IF AND ONLY IF they know their way around the internet to find relevant resources.

I Do Not Recommend those hosting providers with a limited number of resources, for the novice in WordPress and Internet Marketing, who have a hard time searching and locating training resources on the internet.

But if you want me to help you pick out just 1, out of the 33 platforms reviewed above, then
